WELCOME

ARMONIA UK TRUST is the support network for Armonia in Mexico. For more information visit our website.

The Armonia UK Trust was created to develop support from UK churches and individuals for the work of Armonia in Mexico. It traces its beginnings to when Saul and Pilar Cruz returned home to Mexico City after a three month study leave in London at the end of 1987. The last two decades since the birth of Armonia have seen hundreds of people experience a transformation at multiple levels - social, spiritual, individual.

Poverty is a threat. It makes us angry at the insult to God's image that anyone should have to grow up in these appalling circumstances. Compassion and thirst for justice in the name of Jesus are also driving us to make a difference.

ARMONIA's work can best be described through the eyes of those who live daily in the stressful and dangerous conditions of the five ravines, leading west of downtown Mexico City, or those in the northern edge of the city heading towards the ancient pyramids, at Santa Cruz, or again those who are the latest to be touched through Armonia's work amongst the indigenous families from the Zapotec speaking regions of Oaxaca.

There are also stories of those from other parts of the world, particularly those coming from settled neighbourhoods of affluence and comfort, in the UK and other countries, as they spend a few days or sometimes many months, living alongside the Mexican poor. Transformation is experienced by these visitors and volunteers as well, and their stories are part of the Good News.

This Blog will be a "sticky ball" attracting comments and collecting stories as we celebrate twenty years of one remarkable Christian ministry amongst some of the poorest people on the planet. Stories from the beginnings back in the 1980's can sit alongside anecdotes from the last few days. There are hundreds of us who have memories and experiences worth sharing.

Make sure you send us stories.
